Proximity cards use a small unique coded chip within the card. The chip holds a number which can be recognised by a card reader and unlock the door according to predefined access levels and time zones.
Simple proximity cards are relatively inexpensive are easy to use and as there is no contact between the card and the card reader will have a long life expectancy.
