Swipe Card Readers

Swipe card readers are designed to allow the occupants of a building to carry a small swipe card which when swiped through the swipe card reader outside the door, and then assuming that the card is valid for that day and time, will allow them to enter.

Although regarded by many as old fashioned, swipe cards offer the benefit of basic low cost technology which has been shown over the years to be very effective. Where high card populations are likely to be the norm, swipe cards can be a real bonus as the cost of the cards are very modest, and the system can be specified for a single swipe card reader as seen below to an online system with many card readers linked back to a PC, allowing individual cards to be timed and controlled with the benefit of an audit trail and to determine who went where and when.
