Great Ormond Street Hospital is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for child healthcare and located in the heart of Central London. The GOSH estate consists of 30 plus mixed purpose buildings contributing to the centre which provides the UK’s widest range of specialist health services for children.
At the end of 2019 Ansador were awarded the contract to provide the hospital with an enterprise level control system involving over 2000 access control points. Access Control plays an important role in most buildings, allowing only those with relevant access into a building or specific area of it. Crucially, it provides a record and audit trail of staff and visitor access.
Mid way through the project, the Covid-19 worldwide pandemic began. The client’s requirements urgently changed in order to adhere to the strict WHO guidelines and to keep their staff and service users as safe as possible. Ansador had to respond to these changing requirements quickly and efficiently, amending the project logistics accordingly. We leveraged on our long standing technology partnerships in order to provide state-of-the-art contactless technology for every access point, ensuring that any doctors who had been in to a Covid-19 treatment area, would not be permitted to access any other area on site, preventing the spread of the virus.
Ansador will complete handover in the latter part of 2020, all the time working with the client to ensure the system solutions we provide help to keep users of the building safe and secure during the Covid-19 pandemic and thereafter.
